A couple of things I found recently that I thought you might be interested in. Fairly recent studies show that George F. Dietz is wrong in some of his genealogy; as was Stanton Dietz, and many others:
1) The Palatine Families of NY & NJ, Some Later Arrivals" by Henry Z Jones, 1991 on
page 69, has the following to say about the Schoharie, NY Dietz's"
"These emigrants to colonial NJ and NY all appear to have their roots in the
heart of the Westerwald with so many other "Palatines" at the hamlet of
Vielbach (often spelled Filbach, Vilbach, Fullbach, countless other
variants), entries for which are in the registers at Nordhofen (17 kms. s.
of Hachenburg; Chbks. begin 1659, but sever gaps therein). The common
ancestor of the Hunterdon Co., NJ and the Schoharie Co., NY groups was David
Dietz, the miller at "Vilbach," who d. 15 Sept 1693, and had the following
issue all of whom lived at Vielbach:
Sebastian...
Anthonius...
Mattheus....
Anna Margaretha....
Eva...
Johann Adam...
Johann Wilhelm, md. 28 Aug 1689 Maria Sturm...Johann Wilhelm Dietz d. 23
Nov 1724. He was the grandfather of the Schoharie Co. NY Dietz brothers and
sisters who emigrated.
Elisabetha Maria...
"The grandparents of the emigrating Schoharie Co. Dietz brothers were the
aforementioned Johann Wihellm and Maria Sturm Dietz. Their son was Johann
Peter Dietz, (baptized) 27 June 1690....Johann Peter Dietz died 19 Jan 1730
(Nordhofen Church book). Johann Peter Dietz at Vielbach married 6 July 1730
Anna Eva Becker; all of their surviving children emigrated to colonial, NY."
2) Families of Herkimer, Montgomery & Schoharie by William V.H. Barker, [The Schoharie portion was first published in a separate book in 1995] available on CD from the author at 25 Wheeler St, Shelton CT 06484
cites "More Palatine Families" by Henry Z. Jones Jr (1991) and comes to very
similar conclusion in regard to Johann Peter Deitz's wife.He says that
Anna Eva Becker is "erroneously called ENGELTE WEINER in "The Dietz Family"
by George F. Dietz, NYC 1956 [w. appendix by Stanton L. Dietz, Athens, Ohio
1959])."
