I believe Johann Jacob Dietz to be my 8th GGFather and the information that was given to me shows him as married to Eva Katherine Schmidt. I am descended through their son Johann Wilhelm Dietz who I have as b. 1670. Is this the same Johannes that you show as born 27 Mar 1670? I believe Johann Jacob and Eva also had a son Johann Adam b. ?, and Barthlomew b. 1682.

Do you know where Johann Jacob was born and where they were married? Any other information you have on him or his ancestors would be much appreciated.

I believe I am descended from Johann William (Johannes?) and Anna Maria Sturm who he m. in 1689. They had a son Johann Peter b. either 1690 and m. Anna Eva Becker 1712. If so, I have Johan Peter as having died in 1730.

An alternative history Johann Peter b. 1701, m. Maria Eugeltie Weiner 1721 and then immigrating to America about 1730 with their entire family. Either way all of the children by which ever mother immigrated to the States; most of them between 1730 and about 1738. They settled in Schoharie, NY. Among them was a s. Johan William Dietz who m. Dorothea Warner. They are my 7th GGParents.

During our Revolutionary War, another s. Johannes was massacred by Indians in 1781, as was his wife, and his s. William 's wife, and their four young children. William, who was a Capt. on the Rebel side, was captured and taken to Niagara Canada where he died in captivity.

I am especially interested in who was the correct wife of Johan Peter and when and where he died. Sources are important to me so I can decide which of his conflicting histories is correct. I am also interested on details of when the family immigrated.

I am also interested in the book by George D. Dietz, such as the title, when it was written, especially if it has any information on Johan Peter Dietz and his descendents.

Will exchange information with anyone able to clarify the history of this branch of the family. Thank you very much.
