Thomas was the grandfather of Ullrich and his cousin Georg Dietz, who came to America on the ship “Billender Thistle” in 1738. Georg may have gone on to North Carolina. The next year Georg’s older brother Adam, another grandson of Thomas Dietz, sailed with his family on the ship “Loyal Judith” arriving in Philadelphia on September 3, 1739. Georg Dietz was born in Hengsperg (Rieschweiler parish) in 1698, his cousin Ullrich was born in Rieschweiler in 1682.
I have written a book covering all relevant records from the churches around Rieschweiler and Zweibrücken. The earliest record, for this family was found in Zweibrücken in 1679. This work, through a careful study and translation of the available records, follows the descendants of Thomas Dietz through Germany and into America.
