Born 17 July 1845/'46/'47 in Hesse Darmstadt
to Henry & Martha DIEHL. Emigrated to US in
the fall of 1866, entering via NY. Settled in
Oshkosh (WI) by 1874 when he married Henriette POFAHL on 31 October. Seven children: Wilhelmine Karoline (1875), Emma (1877), Henry F. (1879), Olga (1881), Hulda (1883), William (1886) and John G. (1888).
Worked in a lumber yard. Lutheran. Names of
siblings who emigrated and were said to have
"remained out east" are unknown.
