Levi Deihl (b. abt 1806, PA) married Mary Snyder (b. abt 1808, PA) and the couple had ten children. They appear in the Federal censuses for Hopewell Twp, Cumberland Co, in 1850 and 1860 (the latter in another's household). One Levi Deihl joined the Church of God in Newburg, Cumberland Co, in 1834, and is later (undated) listed as a member of the Shippensburg Church of God, along with several members of the same OBER family into which Levi and Mary's eldest son married. A Levi Deihl was also executor for the estate of a George Deihl of Middle Spring, Cumberland.
John Reuben Deihl/Diehl (both spellings appear) was born 1AUG1827 in Middle Spring, Cumberland, and married Anna C. Ober (see first para., this posting)on 28NOV1850 in Cumberland. Anna, daughter of Jacob Ober and Catherine Myers, was born 11FEB1831 in Hopewell Twp, Cumberland Co, and died 26JUN1892 in Bloom Twp, Wood Co, OH.
John Reuben Deihl served in the Civil War enlisting in the 207th PA Infantry Regiment on 3SEP1864 and incurring a non-combat injury. By 1881, he and Anna had relocated to Wood Co, OH, where their eldest son resided (see next para.). John Reuben Deihl died 28JAN1906 in Illinois, whilst visiting a married daughter.
David Alfred Deihl, eldest son of John Reuben and Anna, was born in May, 1852, probably in Cumberland County, PA. He married an Ohio girl with strong PA roots, Belenia Simon of Wood County. The couple had six children and lived in Wood County (near Bloomdale) until her death from typhoid (11NOV1884). David later remarried and moved to Michigan -- and out of my area of interest.
I am seeking any information about Levi Deihl's parents or siblings, as well as the antecedents of Mary Snyder. I believe that several other early 19th century Cumberland Deihls (William, John, and George) may be siblings of Levi's or otherwise related, but cannot discover any solid evidence.
