You are probably on the right track. Family records for my great-grandmother's family show William Addiddle-Adduddel's will rec. in Phil. Co. PA; his son, John Adam m. Eleanor Hanse/Hense and John Adam died in Augusta Co. VA. (This is my ancestor.) Other children's names are spelled Adudel, Adiddle, etc. There is a James Addiddle in his list of children, b. 1746.
