Posted by: Robert Chamberlain (ID *****8924) Date: October 30, 2009 at 12:10:07

Seeking more info on the Scottish ancestors of John DICKSON/DIXON and Mary BELL.

John DICKSON was born in Scotland circa 1821, probably in the Dumfries (Annandale) area. His parents are unknown. He married Mary BELL about 2 Sept 1848, likely Church of Scotland. Mary was born about 1829, possibly at Saint Mungo, Dumfries, and was reported as the daughter of Christopher Bell.

John & Mary Dickson had five children born in Scotland, probably the Dumfries area:
Robert, b. circa 1850 (possibly b. Feb 1849, Annan.?; married Isabelle Corrie/Currie in Ontario)
Thomas, b. circa 1853 (possibly b. April 1851, Hoddom?)
William John, b. circa 1855 (possibly b. Jan 1853, St. Mungo?)
Andrew, b. circa 1859
Christopher, b. circa 1861 at Annan.

John & Mary (Bell) Dickson immigrated to McKillup Township, Huron County, Ontario, Canada, about 1860-1864, where they had three additional children born in Ontario:
James, b. circa 1864
George, b. circa 1866
Jane, b. circa 1869
