Wish I could see a connection. I'm "stumped" on my DICKSON guys. James W. DICKSON and his brother, Joseph DICKSON, married LATIMER sisters. The evidence suggests that this LATIMER line was out of Sumner Co. TN but the marriages may have taken place in Humphreys Co. TN in the early 1820's. Then they moved to Carroll Co. TN. Joseph died young in Carroll Co. but James W. DICKSON moved on to Red River Co. TX.

I know the father of the DICKSON guys. He was John DICKSON who died in Dickson Co. TN ca. 1821. However....I've been unable to prove anyhing any further back. It appears that this DICKSON family came out of far East Tennessee...probably Greene or Jefferson Counties. Two familes closely aligned were WILSON and WOODS. Also, I believe two brothers of John DICKSON (d. ca. 1821) were Hugh DICKSON and Joseph DICKSON who married two COWAN sisters back in Jefferson Co.

I've seen the name Nathan DICKSON in some of my research but the name Jordon DICKSON is completely new to me. Having said that...I did find a "vague" reference from Gibson Co. TN that suggested to me that a son-in-law of John DICKSON (d. ca. 1821) by the name of Benjamin CUMMINS might have been there briefly. Any of these names ringing any bells?

Russ James of Houston Co. TN
