Jane DICKSON was the daughter of John DICKSON, b. 1756, probably in Ireland, and d. 30 Jun 1840 in Lincoln Co, NC. Jane is mentioned in her father's will:
Will (Lincoln Co Will Abstracts 1779-1910) 9 April 1832, proved Sept 1840, Book 2, p. 72.
Wife Marey, three youngest daughters, to Martha and Clarissa Margit, daughter Nanse Lewis. To Sarah Falls, Elizabeth Kennadey, Jean Lewish.Sons Thomas, Gelbreath, John, Henry, Jeams, and Robert Dickson.Exec.Wm. McGill, Thomas Dickson, Sr. Wit:Robert Dickson, William Patterson, John Dickson
John DICKSON was married to Elizabeth HARMON (c. 1763- 28 Jan 1816), daughter of Peter HARMON and Lydia BEASON. He married Mary DILWORTH (1792-17 Sep 1857) in 1817.
John DICKSON is believed to be the son of Thomas DICKSON (c1740 - 15 Jun 1783) who immigrated to America from Ireland and settled in Tryon County (later Lincoln Co.), NC.
This family used both spellings:DICKSON and DIXON, with most of the family settling on DIXON in the mid 1850's.
