Sorry to have taken so long to respond, and I'm afraid too that there are probably no immediate connections to your Robert and mine.
My Robert Dickson was the 7th child of Archibald and Elizabeth Rutherford Dickson (Turnbull). He was born Feb. 22, 1825 in Roxburghshire, Scotland.
On August 3, 1848 he was married to Jane Ann Grant of nearby Pictou, Nova Scotia. They had 14 children, only eight of which were to have children themselves.
My grandmother's eldest brother, Archibald is of some interest to me at this time for he and his wife (Isabella Turnbull) had two children, the older the only one to survive infancy. She was in fact my mother's eldest cousin, and perhaps more importantly for us, my ggrandfather's eldest grandchild. As such we have many pictures of her as a child and young teen, ca. 1890's. Unfortunately, we have no records of her existence or circumstance of life beyond her full name, Anna Rutherford Dickson, her sister's name (Mary), and of course the pictures. Her father, Archibald, died in Winnepeg, Man. on December 28, 1921.
My North Dakota connection lies in the fact that my Dickson clan moved from the Brussels, Ont. area to the Crystal, Dicksinson and Langdon, ND regions about 1890.
Good Luck in you searches. It's exciting when NEW things open up !!
