Dicks families from Longbridge Deverill before 1820
I am trying to find out more about the Dicks families who emigrated to South Africa in 1820. They have become known as the 1820 Settlers and several groups of families under the leadership of one member were given assisted passages to then Cape Colony. There were 3 Dicks families in Edward Ford's party on board the Weymouth and I would like to know anything about the earlier lives of these 3 families. They were: James Dicks and second wife Jane; James Dicks and wife Dinah (Ford) and Ephraim Dicks - a widower, and his two sons. Another daughter and son-in-law of Edward Ford, one Benjamin Dicks and Maria Ford appears to have joinde the families in about 1830. I would appreciate any information or suggestions anyone could share with me.
