Dickinson Family Genealogy Forum

I will try to answer your questions. The source of the birth date data is the records from the church that the Dickinson families attended in New Brunswick when the child/infant was baptized/christened. One reason why some birth dates are not available is the Baptist religion became prominent in the area in the early 1800's. The parents no longer baptized and so no method is available to determine exact birth dates.
Census records from 1851, 1861, etc, wills, obits, land grants and land sales are used to identify parents and children. Confusion comes from these inaccurate methods. For example, the Larlee Genealogy website mentions that Darius and Mary were the parents of Samuel N. Dickinson, the first warden of Carlton County. Based on much research by my cousin, Darius and Mary had a son named Samuel born 1802 who died before the 1851 census. Samuel's cousin was Samuel N. Dickinson, son of Peter Dickinson and Hannah Shea. Samuel N. Dickinson was born about 1806 or 1807 based on census and obituary data. He died in 1875.
