Dickinson Family Genealogy Forum

Hello,
Clara Augusta Dickinson Weeks (1870-1956) was my Great-Grandmother. My birth name was Kirk and I am the daughter of Harold Kirk (and Dorothy Sheldon) who was one of the two sons of Clara's daughter, Madeline, who lived in Woodsville, NH for many years. I am writing to this Forum to ask if anyone knows of any Native American heritage in Clara's family tree? My Great-Grandmother said she was positive there was Native American (Abenaki I believe) heritage in our family tree, but she had never been able to prove it. She said, "I got as far as the woods!" and chuckled -- "couldn't get any further than that!" I believe in those days people in general wanted to cover up any Native American ancestry, so I'm not surprised. As for myself, I think it would be great and would very much like to learn more. Does anyone out there have any information on this? What a wonderful job Laurie Dickinson Trask Mann has done to put all of this on-line! I never knew Great Gram had written all this! Thank you so much, Laurie! I would love to correspond with you but don't know how, I'm not very computer savvy - there is probably some way I can find your email address here but I don't know which button to push! I'll just hope you may see this message and will contact me. Sincerely, Mira Fakirananda in Burlington, Vermont
