Dickinson Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Chris, Not sure if you are still checking these pages. I finally found out more details of Florence Dickinson. I actually managed to trace the son of her sister Royal, George Unwin, my second cousin, but never met him. He is now 89, so does not remember a lot, however, he has a brother aged 67 in Yorkshire and am waiting for more details from him. His name is Bryan Unwin and he has a son in Melbourne, Australia believe it or not. I have contacted him too. I found the family on the 1881 census. Father Thomas Dickinson b 1843 Bolton on Dearne. His wife Matilda b.1852 Gt. Yarmouth. Children: Kate Elizabeth b.1876 Bolton-on-Dearne. Thomas William b 1878 Bolton on Dearne. Albert Edward b.1879 Pontefract, Yorks, Lilian b1880/1 and then came Edith, George, Sidney, Florence (my grandmother) Frank and Lydia Royal. A total of 10 children. The Dickinsons sure knew how to breed! Thomas, the father, with his family, at the time of the 1881 census was at the "New Infantry Barracks" Fulford Road, York, but must have returned to Bolton on Dearne later because my Grandmother, I am sure, was born in Bolton on Dearne. I am now trying to find a way of getting Matilda's maiden name so I can go back further. You never know, there may be a connection somewhere along the line. They must have been huge families. Hope to hear from you soon. Maureen.
