I have assumed that Lewis Dickinson was the son of Charles Dickinson (born 1757, living in 1840 in Nassau), a Revolutionary veteran and pensioner. Charles married Margaret. He was the son of Christopher Dickinson (b. 1729 Stonington, CT, living 1800 in Canaan, Columbia Co., NY) and his wife Mary. Christopher was the eldest son of Samuel Dickinson (d. 1750 Dutchess Co., NY), who married Mary, daughter of William and Ann (Pinder) Cole of North Kingstown, RI. Samuel was the son of Charles Dickinson (d. 1740 South Kingstown, RI) and probably his second wife Philip Greene. Samuel had a son Ichabod (b. 1734), as did Samuel's son George (1738-1813), of Canaan. There is some discussion of this family in Archibald Bennett, *Finding Your Forefathers in America* (Salt Lake City, 1960). There is nothing in the Rensselaer County courthouse to identify the children of Charles Dickinson (1757-1840+). Could he have spent the last years of his life in Oswego County?Paul Gifford
