I have a John Speir in my database. He was ch. 19 Sept 1764 in Sorn, Ayrshire, Scotland. He was the s/o Daniel Spier [b. 21 Sept 1718 in Sorn, d. 23 March 1798] and Ann Richmond [b. abt 1727; d. 31 Dec 1802] Is this your "John Spiers"? I also have some Dickie's in my database. Can't connect to your Janet, but the closest in date that I have is William Dickie [b. 1785 in Ayrshire] who married Jane McHaul. I don't know who his siblngs or parents were.
