Greetings, Michael!
My wife was in Logie Pert, Scotland a short while ago. Logie Pert is about 7 miles to the west of Montrose (nearest city that's on a map) and consists of a small group of houses, a church and a small cemetery all along one road. The church was sold recently to an architect who plans on remodelling it into a residence for himself. The church has be vacant for some time and all records have been tranferred intact. The organ was sold about a year ago and is in the process of being rebuilt to be installed in a small church quite some distance away. The cemetery is not beside the church but down the road and is intact. Headstones are moss-covered and deteriorating.
Logie Pert was the "bedroom" community for two large woolen and bleaching mills located in Craigo Works. The mills went out 80+ years ago and the town lost its population. Population is now about 50, maybe.
If I can answer any questions, please let me know.
I am researching Matthew DICKIE b9Mar1727 in Ayr, Ayrshire Scotland. Matthew married Janet NESBIT b1731 and they immigrated to Cornwallis, Kings, Nova Scotia where they died in the early 1800s. Matthew and Janet had a son, James b1763 who d17Apr1851 in Cornwallis.
