Hi Charles Rice:
Elmira Dickey is the daughter of William F. and Sarah Gabbert Dickey (my 2nd Greats.) Elmira died 18 April 1900 in Webster Co., Ky and her husband Otho Brashear had died years before that (no date available.) I correspond with a number of their descendants. Otho Brashear was the son of Benjamin Brashear and brother to my 2nd Great Grandmother, Mary Brashear James of Bullitt Co., Ky. The only Dickey I know who fought for the Union side was Curtis A. Dickey, youngest son of Wm. F. and Sarah G. Dickey. He moved to Missouri and enlisted there during Civil War. Otherwise these Dickeys were from Va. then Ky. unless they originated in Pa. which I have suspected as many Irish folks came into this country - Ireland to Pa. before moving south and west.
Would like to hear more of what you know. Thanks!
