Edmund or John W. Dickey Marshall Co.,AL

My great grandfather was John M. Dickey born 1840. His census records show him to have been born in AL his father in VA and his mother in TN.
Today while looking for him in Alabama Marshall Co., I found two Dickey families but not mine. I found in District NO. 25 a Edmund Dickey age 40? farmer b. TN Wife Charlotte age 31 b.unknown, children Charles C. 11, Delilia P. age 9 Wm age 7, James H. age 5. All the children were born in AL.
The other one 23rd Subdivision John W. Dickey age 21, wife Salina age 22, Mary E. 9/12. All are entered as born in DT. What does that stand for, anyone know? I found several listed in that manner. It isn't for unknown.

If you know anything about my John M. Dickey please let me know. He was in MO by 1860 and I lost him there after 1880.
