I found your posting interesting as it is for a Dickey family in MO. My great grandfather was born in AL but lived most of his life in MO. In 1880 Mo census their was a son??, born in 1868 named Thomas but my grandparents didn't marry until 1875. My great grandfather was John M. Dickey.

I also found the Rayburn reference interesting. I belong to the Rayburn mailing list and one of the subscribers reported reading a Rayburn married a Dickey but that was all the information the person had to offer.

I also thought it interesting that my great uncle named his foster son Roscoe.

I would also like to know more about your family.
