The line down to George is as follows:
Robert Dickey ca 1463--1536, Glasgow, Scotland. Skinner.
Married Elizabeth Auchincloss.
John Dickey 1501-1567, of Glasgow. Leather footware.
Married Janet Gayne.
John Dickey ca 1542-1606.
Married in 1583 Janet Sproul.
John Dickey, ca 1585-1641,from Scotland to Ballymena, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland where he bought 97 acres in 1640.
Married Agnes McIlvaine.
William Dickey 1619-7 Oct 1693. Linen draper. In Oct 1641 he leased his father's farm but it was destroyed in the rebellion that began that same month. To Belfast by 1656.
Married Sarah McMurtry. Her LWT 14 March 1696/97 mentions "little grandsons William, George, Thomas, Adam".
These are sons of eldest son Thomas and wife Jane, formerly Awl.
Thomas Dickey ca 1650s-1728, moved from Belfast to Muckamore, and bought 47 acre farm.
Married 2nd in 1680 Jane Awl whose LW&T of 3 Aug 1742 refers to
sons William and George "acrost the seas". Besides these were Thomas, Adam, and Sarah.
George began the process of obtaining land near Buck Run in Sadsbury Twp, Chester Co, PA, where his brother William, a miller and millwright, had settled in early 1720s. He may have stayed in Ireland until after his father's death in 1728. But ca 1740 George moved somewhat west into a part of the county that fell into Lancaster Co, PA. LWT and inventory at Lancaster, PA. He died between 15 Sept and 10 Nov 1748.
James was the oldest of the children. Born March 1713, Ireland, died Oct 1792, Rutherford Co, NC. His first wife was Catherine Huet, daughter of Anthony Huet. Later he married Mary (-----) Kilpatrick, widow of Joseph Kilpatrick.
They named a son Anthony, after Catherine's father, who is well known because of his Rev War service. Anthony was born in Chester Co, PA in 1745. Others were Isabel, George, Margaret, David, and Moses.
George was born ca 1741 no doubt in PA. He married ca 1768 Martha Johnston who died ca 1804. George was on a list from May 1778 of persons killed by Indians. In July 1778, letters of administration on George Dickey were granted to Martha. Anthony and David were securities. (His younger brothers.)
I have been told their children were Robert, George, and Moses.
In 1802, Moses Dickie married Susannah Ballard.
I have seen a query from the 1980s re: Hannah Taylor (b 1777) marrying one George Dickey in 1803. She died in 1868 at Mineral Bluff, Georgia.
In 1806 Moses Dickey was present at the signing of the LWT of Robert Taylor.
Probably the one I have as "Robert" and you have as "James" or "Burton" are the same.
If, indeed, a great-grandson of George moved to PA, the way may be open to account for some "loose ends" in the PA records.
