Frankie, I have a John Dickey in Jobe twp, Oregon Co., Missouri on the 1860-70 census. That is the same place my great grandfather is in 1880. The 1860-70 census has him with a Eliza and a daughter Mary. Also a volunteer sent me the date of their marriage. John Dickey married Eliza Clark Sept 26, 1858. She would have been 23 when they married and John 17. There was a 6 year old, Hulda Clark on the 1860 census, Eliza's daughter or relative. There were other Dickey children on that census which could not have been John's. Dickey children; William 13, Elizabeth 12 and Marion 6. Do you know anything about them?
Then he married my great grandmother Josephine C. Gaines Mar 21, 1875. He was 35 and she 23.. My grandfather was born late Dec of 1875. There was a Thomas on the 1880 census 12 years of age and listed as son. He couldn't have been John's and Josephine's son. If he was Josephine's son then he would have been born when she was 16. This Thomas has never been linked to the family except on that one census.
