"The Quarterly" of the York County Genealogical and Historical Society (Rock Hill, SC) in the March 1996 issue (volume 7, number 4), pages 19-21, has an article "Craig-Dickey" by Faye Thornton Dugas. It was actually written in 1976. The article does not name the father of Hugh Wilson Dickey. Hugh Wilson Dickey was born 2 Oct 1804 York District, SC, died 19 May 1870, Troup, Smith Co, TX. His first marriage on 25 Jan 1827 was to Mary B. King (7 Oct 1805--June 1829). They had two children: Esther Editha (10 Nov 1827--9 June 1829) and James Ptolemy (13 June 1829--30 Jan 1899). James was living when his father married 4 April 1833 to Margaret Malissa Craig, possibly in Lancaster District, SC. She was born in Lancaster District, SC, 13 Jan 1817. She died 16 Nov 1902 Linwood, Cherokee Co, TX. There were 11 children born to Hugh Wilson and Margaret Malissa (Craig) Dickey, and all lived to maturity. Names given here are: William Nathaniel Martha was born in Bradley Co, Arkansas in 1858. The other were born in York District, SC.
