Coming to Illinois w/ David B. Dickey

I am trying to research the coming to Illinois of my line of Dickeys. According to my research, David Ballard Dickey (b. 5 Nov 1814, in Rutherford Co., NC (according to 1850 Walker Co. GA census) d. 25 Jan 1867, Arrington Praire - Wayne, IL) must have been the first in my line to come to Illinois. He married Nancy Ann Page (b. 10 Jun 1815, NC, d. 13 Aug 1893). They had 10 kids (8 of them girls).

Anyone know why they came to Illinois?
