Thank you Mr. Reed for your reply. I had my suspicions that there was another Eli Dickey residing in the same area as my ggrandfather Eli Ervin Dickey. This explains why, when I viewed the marriage record, I got the impression that our Eli Dickey had been married to Rosa P. Morris. Our Dickey line resided in Marion Twp., Owen County too, which also encompasses Coal City. What can you tell me about your wife's Eli Dickey. Do you know his parents names? If so, can you share any other of their ancestors names? Since posting my original message, I learned that our Eli Ervin Dickey is buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City, Indiana.
I had come across information that another Eli Dickey, b. 1875; d. 1960 at the age of 85 is buried in Beech Cemetery, in Marion Twp., Owen Co., Indiana. I also noted a Rose P. Morris , b. 1877; d. 1955 is also buried in Beech Cemetery, (Section 35). Both death records were in the "Cemetery File" at the Spencer/Owen County, Indiana Library. I noted a marriage record in Book 33, Page 346 in Owen county, Indiana dated April 14, 1895 for Rose P. Morris and Eli Dickey. I am looking forward to hearing more of your wife's line of Dickeys. Perhaps her information will fill in some gaps in my mother's ancestral line of Dickeys.
