I am looking for information on John Dickerson. gunsmith. On the way to Mississippi the family followed the Three-Chopped Way Indian Path through the Choctaw nation before arriving in Natchez, then riding the Natchez-to-Mobile road before finally arriving in Amite County, Mississippi, near the present-day town of Liberty. John’s family arrived there between 1805 and 1808. In 1810, John and his family were listed in the census of Amite County. John belonged to the local militia and had a skill, as a blacksmith or gunsmith [family]. I located a John C Dickerson in MO in 1850, but he was only 16 altho listed as a gunsmith.
