John & William DICKERSON - - Frederick Co or Montgomery Co, MD - 1700s

Doing collateral genealogy research here, to see if I can trace the father or my Robert Guthrie (1752-1815).

And the "Dickerson" family seems to be EVERYWHERE that my Guthrie family lived for 200 years or so ! From as early as 1780's in Washington County, Pennsylvania, to Richland County & Harrison County, Ohio - to Dallas County, Iowa.....

John and William Dickerson hailed from Frederick County (another sources says “Montgomery County”), Maryland. Again, the Dickerson family seemed to migrate EVERYWHERE with the Guthrie family over the years - - they moved from Maryland to Fayette County, Pennsylvania before 1772, and in 1774, moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania, and later to Harrison and Richland County, Ohio to Dallas County, Iowa. John and William Dickerson, took up land in 1688 in Charles County, Maryland.

Interesting to me was John Dickerson (1721-1785) had a daughter named Sarah (1746-1829), who married a Leonard Roberts. She names one of her sons, “Guttery.” This is odd, to say the least. I wonder what the connection is to naming her child “Guttery” ?? John Dickerson also had a son named Barrick Dickerson. It is of interest that Francis Guthrie (our DIRECT ancestor, Generation 4) sells land in 1856 to a Benjamin Parker, in Oakland County, Michigan. Barrick Dickerson witnesses this land transaction. What is the connection here ??

Thanks !
