Since posting my initial query I was contacted by a researcher who provided me with some info about Robert and his family, all of which agrees with your research. I'd be happy to share that info with you if there is anything you'd like to see.
On my own I have been able to find absolutely nothing on Robert, except for some family trees that appear to be seriously flawed (so much so, I don't believe the Robert mentioned in them actually belongs to my line of Dickersons).
Have you found anything further on him? I am at a complete dead-end.
