Actually I was replying to Mel who I think is my nephew, my brother's son. I am the one that told my brother about Don Dickerson's web page. We know our gg grand father (mine and my brother's) was William Henry Dickerson born in the 1830's in Virgina. We know he left virgina and in his twenties he lived in Arkansas (1860 census)where he later married Sarah Gregory and then in Mississippi in 1867 our g grand father William Charles Dickerson was born. We know William Charles was one fourth cherokee but we have no idea from which parent and as we do not know who William Henry's parents were and very little about Sarah Gregory's parents so we have no idea where the cherokee came in. The Don Dickerson I am referring to was our father's second cousin I believe-his grand father was one of William Charles Dickerson's brothers and Willaim Henry Dickerson was his great grand father. Anyway sorry if I confused you-I meant to reply to Mel and not you. But you know- you are related to me somehow I am sure since your ancestor came from Virginia also. I wish we knew as much about our Dickersons as you do! we can only trace ours to William Henry born in the 1830's. By the way-I was born Melva Jane Dickerson. My father was Melvin Thomas Dickerson. His father was William Auther Dickerson and WA'Sfather and grandfather were William charles and Wiliam Henry Dickerson. Notify Administrator about this message?
