This is probably not the John Dickerson I am looking for as my gg-grandfather since my g-grandfather was born in 1812 in South Carolina. I really do appreciate your help. Your
John and my g-grandfather, William, were probably related as the names are all used together, (James, William, etc.).
Seems they were not too original on names then and relied naming their kids after other family members. One genealogy friend said there was a 123-rule used back then.
The first son was named after the father's father, the #2 son was named after the mother's father and the #3 son was named after the father. Have you ever heard of this rule. I find it working sometimes and other times it didn't, so I don't know if it was a "rule" or just coincidence. Again, I appreciate your help.
