Anne....Probably not available, so here goes..
Page 51.....
ELIZABETH, apparently the youngest surviving daughter of Thomas Dickerson, married Jan, 21, 1742/3 Andrew Wager, son of Charles, who married Elizabeth's widowed mother Abigail Dickerson in 1737 .
C.J. Werner's Dickerson article, also the Peter Dickerson monument in Morristown Presbyterian Church, say Elizabeth went to Morris Co NJ in 1745 with her four brothers.
Application #96039 in the 1912 D.A.R. Lineage Book, (also later applications 127566 & 134031) & Reichner & Aiken Geneology, 1918 p162, say Elizabeth Dickerson married Joshua case, a private in Morris Co Militia, who was born 1722 & died 1777. A pedigree chart for Joshua % Elizabeth (Dickerson) Case filed with Morman Church Genelogical records states she was daughter of Thomaas Dickerson of Southold & that she had previously married Andrew Wager in 1743 as above stated. It was implied that Andrew died shortly after marriage as Joshua Case's first child was born about 1744. No record was found of marriage of Elizabeth and Joshua & it is believed there cannot have been such a marriage. On the contrary as shown below there is proof that Andrew Wager lived until after the Revolution.
A descendant, Paul W. Wager of Chapel Hill, NC, found that Morris Co Records show the sheriff in 1788 recovered against Joseph & Elizabeth Wager, administrators of Andrew Wager, deceased, 62 lbs. for land along Black River, sold at auction. As part of the transaction, Ezra Wager (apparently a son, as was Joseph) bought for 131 lbs. two tracts including mills, dams, houses and buildings.
Andrew is also mentioned in the Co records on Sept. 25, 1781 when he witnessed inventory of estrate of Abraham Schellenger. The bondsmen for the estate were all of Roxbury.
Andrew, Andrew Jr. & Charles Wager are listed in the Revolutionary Census of NJ as residents of Roxbury based on Tax Ratable records of 1779-80.Part of the details given in the 1971 Genealogical Magazine of NJ, pg 95/6 are shown below:
Andrew Wager, 110 acres of improved land
Andrew Wager, Jr. householder, 12 acres (in 1780; none 1779)
Charles Wager, single man.
In May 1801 Ezra Wager & wife Sarah of Chester Township (which was part of the original Roxbury) conveyed 7 acres along Black Creek to John Sweeney and in Oct 1801 Andrew Wager (Jr) & his wife Sarah conveyed land in the area to Daniel Skellenger Jr.
Joseph, Andrew & Ezra Wager were in the 1810 Census for Town of Genoa, Cayuga Co, NY showing removal from Chester, NJ in or after 1801.
The date of Elizabeth Dickerson Wager's death is not known.C. Edwin Wager of Milwaukee states based on correspondence from 1957 to 1972 with 8 descendantrs, that Andrew & Elizabeth Wager had 9 children:
a)Allen, born 1745/6, died before 1832.Fought as loyalist in Rev. War but was pardoned.A descendant, Mrs. Barbara Dold of Norwood, Mass says Allen's daugther Mary, born 1768/9 married Christopher Sheck, a loyalist of Sussex, NB Canada.
b) Sarah, married Samuel Corwin.
c) Rhoda, married Silas Reeve.
d) Andew, married Sarah --.Three children, Lydia, Nancy and Andrew.
e) Benjamin.
f) Joseph, born Sept.1759, died Apr. 15, 1844, married Elizabeth --.Seven children: Rhoda, Polly, Peter, John, Ezra, Betsey, Admiral. The family bible of Peter Dickerson Wager (1786-1866) showing also the birth and death of his father Joseph Wager (1759 - 1844) is in possession of Mrs. Howard M. Bassett, Rockville Center, NY.
g) Charles.
h) Samuel.
i) Ezra
