I read your post with great interest as I also have a DICKERSON / DOUGLAS connection. Unfortunately, I've been unable to define just what it might be. In 1841 Campbell Co., TN, George P. DOUGLAS assigned 300 acres to John M. DICKINSON (DICKERSON), presumed father of John William b.1833 NC-GA-TN?, and George Washington b.1836 Campbell Co., TN. In 1850 John and George appear in the hh of George c1785 and Susan c1788 (DOUGLAS?) GLASSCOCK, possible grandparent's or grand uncle and aunt?. John and George later give VA and Ireland as their father's origins on various records. Other family researchers have speculated about a possible connection to the John DICKERSON of Albemarle Co., VA, but Campbell Co., TN, remains our DICKERSON brick wall.
