I haven't gotten too far back on my "Dickerson" line. I have a Benjamin Dickerson in my family, but he was born around 1866 in Stafford County, Virginia.
My gg grandmother was a Frances Dickerson, born around 1845, and married a Robert A. Doyle and their children were all born in Stafford County, VA
Frances' parents were a William D. Dickerson born abt 1790 and a Frances Skines, Shines, Skinner? (can't read the handwriting) born abt 1816. They would have been married around 1836 and they had the following children: Mary Catherine Dickerson born abt 1843, Frances Dickerson (my gg grandmother) born abt 1845, Margaret Ann Dickerson born abt 1848, William Dickerson born abt 1851, Betty Dickerson born abt 1853, Robert "Buck" Dickerson born abt 1855 and a Jane Dickeson born abt 1857.
I do not know if this was all of their children, just some that I have found. All were born in Stafford County. Do any of these names sound familiar?
I haven't been able to get any further back than this. I believe William D. Dickerson was born in Virginia, but I don't know where and because of his year of birth, was probably married before and had other children. Don't know that for sure.
Let me know if any of these names ring a bell. I was told that my gg grandmother, Frances Dickerson Doyle was a full blooded indian. I have a picture of her. Are your dickerson's indian? Pat
