I have a copy of Charles Douglass's permission. Interestingly, he does not mention Judith's name. He just says that he gives permission for his daughter to marry John Dickerson. The date of his permission slip and the marriage bond of Judith and John are the same. I wonder if the John that married Elizabeth Dolton was the son of John senior. John refers to himself as John sen. in his will. He lists John as being one of his first seven children; however, he does not leave him anything in the will. He specifically mentions each of the other children and what they are to get. If he were the oldest son, he probably was given land and slaves prior to this time.
