"THOMAS VERNON DICKENS, "Tom," "Dick," was born October 16, 1890, in Springfield, Missouri, but has spent most of his life in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. For one and a half years he lived in Mason City, Iowa.

"His father, Samuel Thomas Dickens, was born January 31, 1852, in Humboldt, Tennessee. He has spent most of his life in Missouri, but at present is in the piano business in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. His mother was Jennie Harrington and she lived in Joplin, Missouri, before she was married. Of the ten children in the family, six sons and four daughters, seven are now living.

"Tom prepared at the LaCrosse High School and at Chestnut Hill Academy, Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania. He took the Electrical Engineering Course; held a scholarship from the Yale Alumni Association of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; received honors of the second grade for excellence in all studies in his Freshman year, and general two-year honors in Junior year; and was chairman of the Yale branch of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. In 1917 he played left tackle on the Freshman Football Team; and belonged to the Water Polo and the University Football teams in 1919, winning his numerals, a "Y," and an "sYt." He is a member of Theta Xi and Frnaklin Hall. Laurence G. Thebaud was his roommate.

"In 1917-1918 Dick was a Private, Battery D, Yale R. O. T. C.; and in the fall of 1918, he served as Sergeant in the Field Artillery Unit of the S. A. T. C. at Yale.

"He expects to receive hsi degree in 1921, and will return for greaduate work, after which he intends to become an electrical engineer. His permanent address is 1136 State Street, LaCrosse, Wisconsin."
