Source: 8 September 2005 Daily Southerner newspaper, Tarboro, NC EMMA F. DICKENS Emma Foster Dickens, 94, of Pinetops died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Association Center with Elder James Smith and Elder Donnie Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Carver Park Cemetery in Pinetops. She was a member of the Few In Number Primitive Baptist Church, Pinetops Helping Hand Club, Pine Green Senior Citizens and the United Order of Tent. Dickens is survived by six sons, Wilton Dickens, John Dickens (Ida), Billy Dickens, all of Pinetops, William Dickens Jr. (Jackie) of Maryland, James Dickens (Bernice) of New York and Jimmy Dickens (Jackie) of Washington D.C.; seven daughters, Emma Dortch, Luevinia Collins, Irene Johnson, (Leroy) and Barbara Dickens, all of Pinetops, Ann Jenkins (Carl) and Nora Umstead (Walter), both of Rocky Mount, and Phyllis Biscoe (Reginald) of Maryland; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 24 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Dickens of Rocky Mount; one brother, Dr. Frank B. Weaver (Queen) of Raleigh; and two sister-in-laws, Rosa Bynum and Rosa Weaver. A wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Association Center.
