I have a question for you...I am doing research on my mothers side of the family and hit a dead end a long time ago. My mother's maiden name is DIEKEN. But the dead end may be that, Dieken wasn't always their name. It recently came into light that on the 1880 Census one of my ancestors listed his name as Walter DICKEN (wife Josie), he was from Hastings, Nebraska. And here's where I found your entry...this obit you posted mentions Syracuse, Nebraska which isn't all that far from hastings. Was wondering if you had any other information on this William Dicken? Since there's a chance the two could be related. Maybe there is no connection and it's just a coincidence...or maybe this Walter just misspelled his name on that census...but I am researching this and just thought I'd ask. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
