John Dickason first appears in Hardy Co., (now) WV, on the 1784 tax list. In the 1782 & 1784 tax lists there is a Jacob Dickason who may be John's father.
John Dickason married Ann Smith. By 1795, they were in that part of Greenbrier Co. (now) WV, which became Monroe Co. in 1799. John and Ann had 10 children. I have the names of only 7: Jesse, Samuel (m. Susannah Kounts &/o Margaret Murray), Charles, Jacob (m. Delinda Soward), Reubin (twin)(m. Catherine B. Miller), Elizabeth (m. James Stodghill), and Margaret (m. Alexander Thompson). John Dickason's will was probated in Monroe Co., in Jan 1840.
John Dickason's father, Jacob Dickason, reportedly went to OH and died at an advanced age near Washington Court House. Several of John's children also went to OH, Reubin settled in Jackson Co.
The above information is only partially documented. Would appreciate any information regarding any members of this family.
