Robert Dick- North Yorkshire and Northumberland

I am looking for information on my 3 x gt grandfather Robert Dick. I know that he worked as a shoemaker in Sutton under Whitestonecliffe, North Yorks, England from about 1813. Before that he was a sergeant in the 61st Foot, 2nd Battalion. He married Frances Bosomwood in Sutton in 1803; their son Thomas was born also in 1803. They also had William, John, Robert and Adam.

I have found the deaths of a Robert and Frances Dick in Alnwick Workhouse, Northumberland in 1845 and I am trying to confirm that these are the same people. I know that the 61st Foot, 2nd Battalion was recruited from Northumberland and Durham so it is possible that Robert came originally from around Alnwick. I do not know why Robert would have been in Sutton and why he might have gone back to Northumberland when at least 3 of his sons stayed in North Yorkshire.

I have lots of information to share on Robert and Frances' sons John, Adam and Robert Taylor Dick, my 2 x gt grandfather.

Vicky Tomlinson
