I'm sorry, but I have to take issue with several of these statements. The Peter who m. Mary Altrate could surely not have been born as late as 1757, because in 1775 he was noted ("Peter Dick, Junr.") as a neighbor in a Frederick co, Va, survey completed for Matthew Trotter.I have his birth year as 1748, although unfortunately this is one of those things copied down in the green years of genealogical experience before the importance of referencing was appreciated.
This issue is important because Peter Dick, Sr., m. Maria Elisabeth Linton on 30 Sept 1756, and thus Peter Jr. would appear not to be her child but rather a child of Peter Sr.'s unknown first wife.
Also, Mary Altrate (Aldridge) was apparently still alive in 1813, when a letter written by Thomas McIntire to son Thomas and the son's wife Mary Ann Dick McIntire, indicated that "mother dick and all hur famely is well at present".
Finally, Peter Sr. appears to have arrived at Philadelphia on the ship Royal Union in 1750, one Phillip Dick signing the Oaths of Abjuration and Allegiance immediately above Peter. That Phillip apparently removed to Frederick co, Va, as did Peter, because he was there referred to as deceased in 1791.
