Notes for GEORGE TAYLOR MAXWELL: Frost Mountain quarry was owned and worked by Alex Maxwell, (his brother) George Maxwell and Arthur Stewart. The death of GEORGE T MAXWELL of Canal, Char. County, occurred Tuesday morning at the home of his Daughter, Mrs Eldon Cross of St George. Althought in ailing health for dome time, death came as a shock to relatives and friends. Mr Maxwell was a quarryman and stone cutter by trade and in later years was employed by the Department of Public Works. He was born at Canal Mar 27, 1891, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Dick) Maxwell and was the last surviving member of a family of Nine Children. Mr Maxwell is survived by his wife, the former Viola Barry; four daughters. Mrs Melvin Wright (Louise) of Beaver Harbour, Mrs Arthur J Moore (Margaret), Saint John, Mrs Eldon Cross (Evelyn), St George, and Mrs Roberta Justason, Pennfield; eight grand- children and several nieces and nephews. A Daughter Olive predeceased him in 1933. The funeral was held Thursday from the home of his daughter, Mrs Cross, with prayers at 2:30 followed by services in the United Baptist Church of which he was a member woth Rev. C A Hicks officiating assisted by Rev. J Secord. Internment was in the St George Rural Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Allen, Philip Giggie, Arnold White, Leonard Theriault, Maurice Kernigham and Clifton Thorne. There were many beautiful floral tributes, also donations to the Gideon Bible Cancer Funds, Foreign Missions and Memorial Funds of the St George Baptist Church given in memory of Mr Maxwell.
