Circa 1880s photo of Sarah Dibble (1844-1932)
I recently purchased in Monterey, CA the subject undated studio portrait of a middle-aged woman taken by T. E. Brsitol, Wellsboro, PA.It is identified on the back of the mount in period ink handwriting:
"Mrs M. S. Coles

Pa"
The back of the mount also bears notations by a photographer who was evidently making an enlargement of this older image in 1890:

Sarah Dibble, born 15 Aug 1844 in Smithville Flats, Chenango Co., NY, died 21 Jun 1932 in Stony Fork, Delmar Township, Tioga Co., PA, was the daughter of John Dibble (1816-1889) and Millicent Rowlinson (1824-1911).In about 1862, Sarah married Manderville S. Cole (1837-1923).The couple had two children: Jessica Amelia Coles (1864-1941) and Lula Irene Coles (1876-1957).
