I'm trying to track a Dibble-Mead-Brown connection through Bedford & North Castle, so I thought I might put up this info. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with additional information. Dibble, Jonathan, late of Stamford, will dated Jan. 17, 1760, probated May 5, 1760, mentions his wife Sarah, and children George, Sarah Valentine, Deborah Verian, Abigail, and Elizabeth. Decedent owned land in North Castle. Executrix his wife. Witnesses Benjamin Strong, Abraham Ferris, and Rachel Strong, page 251. Inventory taken May 22, 1760, by Stephen White and Scudder Waring, and filed Sept. 2, 1760, page 253. Mead, Moses, late of Greenwich, Apr. 13, 1750, estate distributed to his brothers and sisters Justus, Sarah, wife of Hezekiah Mead, Martha, wife of Daniel Brown, Hester, wife of Josiah Dibble, Hannah, wife of John Ferris, Joshua, Elisha, Daniel, Ezekiel and Joseph. ***** Abstracts of wills on file in the Surrogate's office, city of New York. Confirmed, New York, August 19, 1785. ***** Note with regard to witness “David Brown, of Bedford, weaver” that Josiah Dibble’s father George was a weaver, and Esther (Mead) Dibble’s sister Martha married a Daniel Brown, likely the “Daniel Brown, weaver”, who died in North Castle in 1787.
