Evaristo Diaz, b 1893, Zacatecas.
looking for decendents of my grandfather, evaristo, b1893, d198?, in whittier, CA.came to whittier, CA early 1900's looking for his father, who, i believe, owned a tannery in juchapila, zacatecas.my grandfather was foreman of migrant workers and helped start bracero program--sorry, lo ciento--on the murphy ranch, largest citrus ranch in S. California (where Richard Nixon's family's general store was located) in 1930's, 40's.my father joe, b. 1920, whittier, attended berkeley, LT. in US Marine Corps during WWII, and worked as entomologist & International Sales for shell chem. co, d. 1978 @ age '57.remainder of his brothers and sisters, domingo (pharmacist), lucy (housewife), ceasar (school administrator) remained in whittier.my grandmother, was a ruiz, from san diego.would love to know more about her, Ruiz's decendents/path, too, as I never was old enough to know my grandmother before she died of cancer.
I have spent time in interior mexico but never been to juchapila on southern border of Zacatecas; pictures, historical information, is scant, if available at all, except a book I have (see below), but my university of Texas spanish isn't up to the translation! (dad's misery/discrimination wouldn't allow him to teach me spanish)my grandfather, who I knew well as a boy, was apparently good friends with a Alfredo Robles Zarate, of Tacuba, D.F., who wrote the book, "50anos despues.....o la Revolucion en Casa: 23 de nov. 1910; 15 de abril 1913; 14 de Marzo 1914." published Mexico, D.F.
