My great great grandfather who settled in Indiana County about 1800 spelled it Dias on old papers I had. Sometimes it was spelled
Diaz. I spent a lot of time on the old Diasproperty which was occupied by Dias from1800
to 1966. Thomas Dias Sr. had nine children. We pronounce the name with a long I. DIas, not Deas as you hear on TV.Thomas Dias who appreared on the 1790 census in Shrewsbury, Lancaster county also spelled it
Dias.
