My mother had two brothers, Lew and Harry Harris, married to sisters Dorothy (Dolly) and Rae Diamond. There were four more Diamond sisters - Gussie, Anne, Harriet and Rhoda, all in the United States. I found out that the family apparently came from Pusalotas, Lithuania. Some went to South Africa, some to Australia and others to the United States. A relative in Australia sent me a large family tree with the descendants of Shmuel Gilelovitz. Sometimes the tree had Hillowitz in parenthesis next to Gilelovitz and vice versa.
There were also Diamonds in the tree, but none of the Diamonds mentioned above. And in one place there was Diamond in parenthesis next to Gilelovitz, probably indicating a name change.
At a Harris-Diamond family reunion in the United States about 25 years ago I met a Sydney Coplon married to a Doris Diamond. I do not know how they were related to the other Diamonds in the family. However they were on the tree which I got from the Australian Diamond, whose name and email address was: "Stan Berger" <sjberger@bigpond.com.au>
