I've traced Samuel Dezell from Gadsden County, Florida; to Missouri, to Chicago. He mustered into the 1st Illinois Light Artillery Battery. M in 1862 in Chicago. Me may have been born in either Chicago or in New York City and his family may have made it's way to Chicago via Canada, likely through Montreal. I suspect his parents were either Irish/Scottish immigrants, or 1st or 2nd generation Irish/Scottish immigrants. He married Mary Ford, in Ford, Illinois, in early 1862. I am trying to find out more information specifically about his anscestors and where they might have migrated from.
