Thank you for your research! I do have a large collection. I suppose it is possible that your James Dey is the same James Dey who i know was son Benjamin Dey and Lucy Compton. I had estimated James' birth as 1780 and he died some time after 1827 (maybe long after). I did not know anything more about him. I would like to refer you to a listserv group, TheDyeSociety, to see if any other researchers can prove this hypothesis wrong. Please e-mail me directly.
