Was James Polk DEXTER a Civil War Veteran?

Hello,

James Polk DEXTER, born 12/25/1842, Warren County, PA, died 1925 in Loomis, Okanogan County, WA. Does anyone know if he fought in the Civil War, and if so, what unit he was in? I can't find any records online, but he was apparently a member of the Grand Army of the Republic in Chelan County, WA. Any reply will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Gar
