George A. Dexter, b. abt 1839 Lisbon, Grafton Co., NH, son of Daniel & Sylvia Crosby Dexter. George died 25 Dec 1862, Fredricksburg, VA in Civil War. He married Helen Luella Clough b. abt 1840 Haverhill, Grafton Co., NH. Helen is daughter of Bailey & Lydia Stevens Clough.
A daughter, Georgianna, married Elmer French and lived in Haverhill, Grafton, NH. Georgianna was enumerated in 1870 & 1880 living with her grandmother, Lydia Stevens Clough Hibbard and her 2nd husband, Samuel Hibbard. Lydia Stevens married (1) Bailey Clough. Lydia and Bailey Clough also had a daughter Martha Ella Clough, married Edmund Noyes. Martha Ella's son, Ned Henry Noyes noted in diaries that "Aunt Luella died 15 Sep 1915 and went to Newbury for her funeral." This information led to the search for her in Newbury. The only possible Helen L. in 1910 and 1900 was Helen L. Tuttle, wife of George Tuttle.
George Tuttle is reported to have married Helen L. Bedell in an IGI file at FamilySearch.org. George & Helen L. are enumerated 1900 & 1910 in Newbury, Orange Co., VT. Helen states in 1900 being married 3 times with 7 children born and 3 living; and George has been married twice. George Tuttle born 8 Aug 1844 Turnbridge, Orange, VT; son of Elias Smith & Lois King Tuttle. George married (1) Emerline M. King.
The only Helen L. Bedell found before marrying George Tuttle is one enumerated in 1870 Norwich, Windsor, VT: Charles Bedell age 22 born VT; Helen L. Bedell age 24 born NH, Charles W. Bedell age 3 born VT, Lillian R. Bedell age 1 born VT. This family cannot be located in the 1880 census but believe Charles may be son of William & Serena (Syrena) Smith Bedell.
William Bedell enumerated age 43 born NH in 1860 Lunenberg, Essex, VT; Tyrena (should be Syrena) 37 VT, Susan 19 VT, Sarah J. 16 VT , Charles N. 11 VT, Martha A. 9 VT. In 1870, William Bedell enumerated Dalton, Coos, NH with Serena, Freeland age 7, Jane age 25 and Clark Cushman age 7. 1880 Monroe, Grafton, NH, William with wife, Serena, and son, Freeland. Serena (Syrena) is reported to be Serena Smith, daughter of John Smith.
Freeland Bedell married Ardelle Emerson on 25 Jun 1887 in Laconia, Belknap, NH; not found in 1900 census but wife Ardelle Bedell is widow in 1910 living with parents, Ephraim & Lucinda Emerson in Laconia.
